Davis Carter Scott’s new Tysons office reflects our culture of collaboration, efficiency, openness and fun! The design incorporates many of the current design trends we are employing for our clients, including smaller individual work areas and increased teaming and collaboration areas. The goal of the design is to create energy and movement throughout the space, and to encourage interaction among staff. The location of the new office over-looking the Silver Line Metro was chosen to reflect the vitality and growth of the changing Tysons area. Windows along the entire perimeter of the office provide staff and visitors with unprecedented panoramic views of the Tysons area and beyond.

CohnReznick LLP is a repeat client of Davis Carter Scott. The firm has worked with CohnReznick LLP on offices across the country, from L.A. to Boston. Each location is designed with a unique image and set of needs, while addressing corporate standards. The recently renovated 60,000 SF Baltimore office wanted to implement a new unique office standard for team work. DCS developed a “Beehive” concept that creates flexible work space with private offices set around teaming rooms and inset with smaller open two person teaming areas or private booths. These flexible hive spaces are located adjacent to open workstations and are tailored to each teams specific needs.

DCS designed Intermarkets’ new space to encourage team work, this includes featuring many open collaboration areas for impromptu meetings. This incapsulates the media firm’s “POETIC” corporate culture and mission of “emphasizing a collaborative and fun office environment which drives the business.” Branding was also very important for the new space, the Intermarkets’ colors can be seen at every angle of the new office. Michael Loy, Intermarkets’ COO, says “DCS Design did a fabulous job designing the space, incorporating collaborative areas, extraordinary finishes and sleek furniture that are perfect for a growing media company. We couldn’t be happier with our new home.”

Broadsoft’s mission to “remove borders, barriers, walls, and silos” became words of inspiration for the DCS team in the design of the firm’s Tysons office. The global communications and technology company wanted a new space which encourages staff fluidity, creativity, and communication. The resulting innovative office design is now being implemented around the country, and has become the corporate prototype for the future. The most interesting and innovative design features are the large centralized, glass enclosed, communication rotundas which include spaces for large meetings, smaller meetings, collaboration, and private phone calls. The rotundas also feature centralized egress corridors lined with lockers for the staff, creating an informal connectivity area. These rotundas allow for fluid and flexible use and can easily be reconfigured as needed. The rotundas are located adjacent to workstations, encouraging the “cross pollenation” of ideas between teams as a centralized hub of activity. The entire space is accented with the Broadsoft corporate colors to promote the brand to visiting clients. To accomodate future growth and flexibility, meeting rooms are standardized allowing for conversion to offices or other needed spaces. A coffee and balcony lounge is positioned on the south side of the space while the lunch-room and the game-room are located on the north side to encourage movement and staff connection throughout the space.

As a rapidly growing technology firm SparkPost needed creative out of the box problem solving for the design of their new 29,000 SF office. The move to a full floor two-story office more than doubled their previous space.
The deep building core and multiple floors had the potential to become dark and uninviting without careful planning and design. SparkPost was simultaneously undergoing a re-branding effort, introducing an on-going
and evolving component to the design.

DCS Design assisted Cvent in the relocation of their 80,000 SF Head Quarters in McLean, Virginia. Cvent’s goal was to create an environment which reflects their technology-based, energetic, and young dynamic work culture. The DCS Design team created a space that is open, collaborative, active, and creates an atmosphere of creativity. The new space incorporates a 3,000 SF datacenter, an interconnecting stair between three floors, and a conference center with upgraded audio-visual capabilities.

A 17,000 SF relocation of Direct Holdings, a Time Life Company. The design goal of the new space was to foster creative energy and connection, while showcasing and celebrate Time Life’s products and brand. To bolster creativity, the design team created numerous, varied opportunities for formal and informal collaboration including a trapezoidal-framed sculptural collaboration area, bench-seating along the window line and a lunchroom with various seating types and gathering areas.

What could be more exciting for employees scheduling vacation cruises than to feel they are working within an actual cruise ship? This was the design inspiration for The Cruise Web, an on-line cruise planning and booking company. The design goal was to create an exciting and inspiring space for employees to look forward to coming to and working in every day. Through the creation of this bold, bright and open space, the goal was to increase employee satisfaction, productivity and retention. The space was also designed to be a successful recruiting tool.

LMO, a locally owned advertising firm, relocated their headquarters to a new LEED Platinum building in Arlington, Virginia which emphasizes a healthy, fun, satisfying and highly productive work place. The primary goal for LMO’s new office is to create an environment that promotes creativity and reflects the firm’s collaborative culture. DCS assisted LMO with Change Management Services, as they were moving from an office intensive environment to a completely open work plan. Designers began with in-depth visioning and a programming study which revealed their most critical planning needs. During this process the team helped staff understand and get excited about their new environment through sharing the design during all staff meetings (called “campfires”), and encouraging a casual after-hours gathering, a building site tour, and an after move-in Happy Hour. Due to the nature of their collaborative work, DCS designed break out spaces featuring various seating types, state-of-the-art technology, and white boards to encourage teamwork at any space in the office. Along the curved window line is a fun and energetic employee cafe featuring a game room. Branding was also major design consideration, products, posters, and memorabilia are prominently displayed throughout the space. Yet the most captivating and interesting branding concept is the letters L,M,O which are incorporated as subtle design elements in the reception area. See if you can find them ….

A young unconventional staff, and a company that markets changing cultural trends, required a space that not only captures their progressive business model, but perhaps more importantly their avant-garde spirit. Communicating Neustar’s strong sense of culture through the architectural design of their new office was both the challenge and the ultimate success of the project. A collaborative, united-team approach including the client, real estate team, project manager, design team, and contractor also largely contributed to the project’s extraordinary success. Neustar’s 40,000 square foot space is designed as a piece of functional sculpture, which when viewed in totality, communicates the essence of their brand. When broken down into individual elements, the design reflects many of the tenets of Neustar’s culture including transparency, communication, information-sharing and unconventionality.

Govplace, a Federal Government technical solutions company, worked closely with Davis Carter Scott on the design of their new 13,000 SF offices in Reston. Govplace is an open office environment with glass front offices and conference rooms. The new design factors in privacy concerns through the use of decorative window film and A/V walls. Multiple collaboration areas create separation between open areas and allow for flexible growth in the future. A variety of workstations were specified to meet the unique needs of the individual departments. The large pantry serves multiple uses as both a meeting space and lunch room with a variety of seating types and moveable furniture.

Davis Carter Scott designed this client’s new 350,000 square foot corporate offices which includes a conference center, a full service cafeteria, SCIF areas, credit union, retail coffee bar, various meeting rooms, and training rooms. The remainder of the space is configured in a mixture of closed office and open workstation environment. This unique mixture of space allows employees the benefit of additional privacy, while also providing the majority of staff exposure to natural light through the use of a glass-fronted system. The project also included the creation of a pedestrian bridge from the existing parking garage to the facility. Branding, efficiency of space, and security were main priorities for the team when designing the space. Team synergy between the client, design and construction teams was critical in delivering a fast-track project in under one year. In addition, the headquarters was designed to LEED CI standards and achieved LEED CI Gold.

The technology services firm “the goal” centered their office around a new open environment floor plan with low partitioned work stations adjacent to high top collaboration, staff lunchroom, and remote work “booths”. The lunchroom is utilized during all hours of the day for activities ranging from impromptu meetings to staff parties. Glass offices and conference room allow energy and light to be shared from the entrance to the perimeter of the space. This feature was very important to the client as they wanted visitors to be engaged by the activity and excitement generated by the office. Subtle branding elements are visible throughout, including a dropped ceiling tile which incorporates the “tg” logo.

After the success of LMO Advertising’s Arlington, VA Headquarters, DCS was asked to relocate the firm’s Baltimore location.

Podesta Group desired a space that was completely one-of-a-kind for their young energetic lobbying firm. DCS assisted the client in relocating 30,000 SF within their current building in Washington, D.C. The client’s primary design objectives included an open/transparent space, fluid movement among the layout, and a unique European design. Upon entry to the space is a dramatic and welcoming reception with strong branding elements. Pops of the corporate colors, curves, and glass were strategically incorporated to the design of the entire space. The reception is used to showcase the client’s art collection which periodically rotates. Located behind the reception desk is the glass conference center comprised of four conference rooms with moveable partitions that open to one large room. The vibrant employee pantry features multiple types of seating and a break-away space upon entry for impromptu meetings.
