After having assisted in a ten month assessment of program requirements and building space plan options, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting decided to stay in the same office building and DCS designed the renovation of the two floor headquarters. The design goals of the non-profit office were to maximize efficiency of the space, create a more collaborative and open workplace, and integrate better technology. The design team created and redesigned formal and informal collaboration areas throughout the two-floor office, including relocating the lunchroom along an atrium to be utilized throughout the day as an informal meeting area. The layout of existing office space will mostly remain the same, however, major support spaces are being reduced and redesigned to function better for CPB. New open spaces were introduced which encourage collaboration and engagement – two core values of the nonprofit. DCS also redesigned the reception and stairwell area and introduced new textures and colors to create a friendly, and modern feel. New finishes are incorporated throughout the office
